Hey friends, welcome to the Only God podcast, where we share stories only God can write. I'm your host, Stephanie L. Jones. In each episode, we'll dive into powerful testimonies, have great conversations, and encouragement that remind us when the impossible happens, it's only God. Let's get started. Hey friends, it's Stephanie here with another episode of the Only God Podcast, sharing stories only God Could Write. Today I am joined with my friend Jamina Concepcion. And hello, Jamina. Hello, hello, how are you? It's so good to see you. Good to see you too. And uh we always just dive right in with uh our Only God connection. How do we know each other? Well, I used to do your hair.

SPEAKER_00

That's how we met. That's how we met. But it's funny, uh, every time that you would sit in my chair, you would share a story. I would share a story to you, and uh the connection got stronger, and something beautiful happened in between us. God, only God.

SPEAKER_01

Only God, yeah, and we both learned that we were Christians and we were women of faith. And so um, you know, that that just came out through our conversation, and I feel like that then uh you know joined us closer together as sisters in Christ. And um, our conversations always had deeper, uh, went to a deeper level than maybe just uh some other conversations you might have with somebody sitting in your chair.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, especially the at that time I was serving uh at the jail Julie to the juvenile uh county here in Indiana with the juveniles, and I will use the word of God with painting, and that would be something that you were like, show me more, show me more what you're doing, show me what you're doing over there because you got excited about it, and like it was an experience of God, like we pray even in my chair. I wouldn't have been, I would be like so open about it, you know. Everybody knew about how I pray, how I serve the Lord. I would not be ashamed to show what where I'm standing up, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Right, being a witness right there. And um, I remember, and I want you to talk before we jump into, I want you to talk a little bit how you got into painting and some of the paintings that you do. But one of the paintings that you showed me, it was like back in 2018, I think, uh, was this painting that is behind me. And I remember I loved it. As soon as you showed it to me, I loved it and I wanted to buy it. And you told me no. And we had no idea what God was gonna do in your obedience to that no. Um, and so I'll just I'll turn it over to you and for you to share whatever you want to share.

SPEAKER_00

Come on, girl, you make me oh my goodness. It is funny how God works, you know. It's his timing, his perfect, his timing. Um, I told you no, that time because I knew there was not the time to sell that painting. I knew it. And that painting, it was the is it is a prophetic painting that I did uh in a woman conference. So and every time that I paint, I fast, I pray, and I just give everything to the Lord that the Lord gave me the vision, what he wants me to paint. And that one is specific, it has a lot of meanings to me because that one is a woman coming from the darkness, but in the in the person of the Lord, everything changed. The colors and her dress is represent uh representation of the the cross, reflecting on her. There is Christ in her. And for me, like painting is my way to express God's ways, you know. And people see it's different ways, like the one that I have behind here is it's beautiful, it has a big meaning. But um our godmomet, my godmoman, it was December 7, 2024. When I was um I was starting to do uh Christmas shopping with my husband, and my husband uh he was like not feeling good the day before. He had like a very bad pain in his shoulders, and um we went to the store and he told me, I'm not feeling good, Jamina. I'm not feeling good. I'm going to the car, he gave me a pair of shoes that he wanted me to buy for him, and I look what happened. I put everything away except those shoes. I bought the shoes when I got to the car. He was bad, he was in bad condition. He told me to take me to the hospital, Janina. And I'm like, where I gonna take him? Where? Where? Like, I'm in Maryville. Yeah, I'm like, my brain, he told me to take him to to St. Mary in Homer. Say Mary. And I'm like, no, no, no, he's gonna die. Like, I'm feeling like that, like, because his colour was gray already. And um I took him to the the one day, it was closer, it was like 10 minutes. When I'm going over there, I see that it was like three cars before me and the light was red, and my husband is like not having it. Like he was like throwing up and sweating like crazy, and it was cold because it was December already, you know, it was very cold outside. And uh when I looked to the side, what is it next to me? An ambulance. And I told the the ambulance to to to do the sirens, and he did the sirens, and everybody moved. Like he God opened the way. I saw that right there, right there. I saw God's hands. Then when I got to the hospital, I go to the reception and say, My husband, I know he's having a heart attack. I know for sure he's having a heart attack. And the nurse, when I got in, they got me inside right away, and they have a doctor right there. The doctor took him, it was so quick. They took this very seriously. I saw God's head when the doctor came to me to uh to do the surgery. He said, uh, your husband is having a massive heart attack, you know. It was three veins that were clocked in his heart. And he told me, Don't worry, I'm gonna do good for him. I said, No, God is gonna do the job, God is the one that's gonna do the surgery, not you, it's gonna be God because it's only God. And he looked at me like, Okay, you crazy Roman.

SPEAKER_01

Like, that's okay.

SPEAKER_00

I'm like, okay. When he came back like an hour and a half later, he told me he only could uh took care of two of them first, to all the arterials and uh his bang uh his art. And then uh on the 18th, December 18th, he had to go again another procedure. And in this in the first one, he got a bacteria in the surgery, and I saw God's hands everywhere, you know, everywhere the like my dependency got it got stronger. Like I never seen myself like depending in God, like I know you're gonna heal her, I know you're gonna do whatever, I know God is working in this situation, and then when on the end of the month, I was not working, he was not working, and I had like one more check coming from my job, and my mind is like at that moment, my God say this is the time to sell all your paintings, and I post them, and when you saw the painting, you're like, I want that one, and I want that one.

SPEAKER_01

I was gonna say, let's pause because I never see any of your social media posts, like never. I had you and I'd probably become friends when I was sitting in your chair in 2018, but I never had seen any of your posts. And that day it just popped up and it had been a little bit because some of yours had already been sold. And I like I literally was panicked because I knew I wanted this painting so bad. And if people know me, I am not like an art person. I don't really buy paint, I've only bought one painting. Um, you know, like it's just not my thing. But I was like, oh my gosh. And then when I messaged you and you're like, it's still available. Yeah, I felt like that was an only God that I saw it, that it was still available. And it had been, yeah, I mean, like six years, which was crazy. Yeah. And at that point, so I had I don't think did I had I, I don't think I saw the other one or bought the other one until I came into your home. Yeah. Um right. So I'll let you continue the story, but I wanted to pause there because I just even think like God is in the details, and I never see any of your stuff. And that day I happen to log in, see yours, and it's still available. So I'll let you continue the story.

SPEAKER_00

That's why I say that it was the gut moment right there. Because I saw God's hands, like, even my girls from my job, they never seen my painting, some of them, and they start like, I want to buy this one, and the other one buy another one. My boss at that time when they bought me two, two, two of them, too. And I saw God's hands like producing for three months. I had salary for three months, that I didn't depend on no government, and no nothing, you know, only God, only God. And I have another God moment that only God will do what I'm gonna tell you now. You know that I've been having issues with my health for a long time, and um it got worse with all this, and you know, but only God, only God. Uh I applied for social security, and even my mom told him, Well, sit down comfortable because that's gonna take years. And I'm like, I serve a God that I know, that I know, that I know, that I know. He knows my condition, and nobody else knows, only him, and he knows that if I continue working the way I am right now, I'm gonna destroy my the way I feel it. I was feeling bad all the time. And um I applied in January, okay? January June, I got an answer. Okay I got an answer that I was approved from me. The thing is that I see in God's hands in everywhere, like every detail, every detail in my life is about God. Like right now, I'm evangelizing, you know. I've been evangelizing for the last two years since after my husband got better. Uh um I still having issues, but I don't stop serving my God because I know there's a lot of people that don't know Jesus. There's a lot of people they don't know who is the savior, how to get to him, how to be more closer to him, you know. When they are like when we're up there, when I'm out there, I see the mercy of God because I'm praying, I'm praying for people. Everywhere I go, I pray for everybody, okay? Like, where's out there? Where's out there? I go in Hammond. Uh I'm um Iglesia Ampton. Um Iglesia Amden is a Spanish church, but we have the main church is in English, uh, is uh uh Ampton Church. And um we have um two churches right now, one in Meryville and one in Hammond. The Hammond one, we have the Spanish, and I go to Hammond in different uh strategic places, like for the Spanish speakers, but also we have English people and we invite them too because it's not fair to know Christ and not let him know, because that's the the mission our here and earth, you know, know Christ and make him know. And for me, my principles, my principles are so like godly woman. Like, oh God, only God can do whatever that is impossible, something that is impossible for the man, it's possible for him. He can make it, he do it, he will make the way to do it, you know. And I see in it in everything, in everything in my life. It's not like little pieces, it's everything. Everywhere.

SPEAKER_01

Well, what I love is you recognize it. And I think you know, God's always working, God's hands and everything, but you have to pause and you have to recognize and and see it. Um, you know. And um I want to go back to the painting really quick because I want you to like, had you been a painter, had you been an artist? Like, how did you get started even in in painting and then like prophetic painting? Um, you mentioned that earlier, and some people might not know what that is. Um, I know you explained it to me when I was getting my hair done.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um, I started to paint around when I was 23. I'm self-taught. No, I've never been in school. I never seen, you know, I never take, I haven't taken a class, you know. Everything that I do is because God gave me the knowledge, God gave me the the way to do it. I don't see no other way, it's only God. And uh I remember that I seen my mom painting. Um, I didn't raise around my mom, I raised around my dad. And every summer when I go to see my mom, oh my gosh, she will be have paintings of hers everywhere. Yeah, I'm like, oh my kid is she can paint, you know, I want to paint like that. But the thing is, when I start to do the prophetic painting, it was in the middle of the pandemia. In the middle of the pandemic, God gave me the the gift. Like the the pastor will have the message online like this, and I will see, I will see with my eyes what why what was the message about it, and I will paint about it, you know. Or sometimes like the the the lady that that one it was before the pandemic. That one is yeah, it was 2018, and I have a lot of painting before that. That one is specific. It was the lady gave I remember the pastor gave me just a verse of the Bible, and she told me I'm gonna be talking about this, but when I saw it, I saw something else, you know? Uh I'm like, okay, but then then when she's preaching, everything that I was painting, it was exactly what she was preaching about us to go to the front of the cross and give it all to him, you know. We're coming from the darkness, that's why you see darkness on the bottom of the wait. There we go. In the bottom, she comes from the bottom, it's darkness, it's melting colors, it's like just like the problems, everything, all the issues, and God gave her like everything. And I see it in my mind. If I can see it in my mind, I can put it in canvas, and that's the thing, you know. That is how God is in perfection. What He does is just perfect. And that one is specific, I did it with my fingers. No brushes. That one doesn't have any brushes, that one is specific with my hands and with a bottle of water spreading, and that's it. I got so involved that I did that painting in less than 20 minutes. A painting regularly, for me, it takes days. Like that one, this one. It took me like three months to do a phase. Yeah. You know, but it's like the elaboration of God. God gave me the little pieces and just put it together in one set, you know. But then when I come back, I do little details, but not I don't try to change what God gave me, you know. I I I just finish the details in my house and that's it. I don't, I don't try to change the paint.

SPEAKER_01

I think that's a great lesson because I think so many times God gives us a mission, something to like go on or do. Um, I the interview before this is I encourage people if they haven't listened to it, Jenny Bolton's um interview about 500 turkeys. And it's just like she has stayed in that lane of, you know, feeding families at Thanksgiving. She hasn't, you know what I mean? Like, I think sometimes God gives us a very specific mission. And then we try to go outside it and do our own thing. And my guess is your painting would not look as beautiful as what they do if you tried to do your vision versus what God has given you.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes, yes. And and and the thing is, when you mentioned that going out, that's another thing. God has been talking to me for years. When I was before another church, I had this vision to go out there and help people, you know. And right now, where I go out there to evangelize, I don't go along, I don't go with anti-hands, I go with uh groceries for people that need it, and also clothing. I've been going with coats, uh clothing for little kids, clothing for teenagers, clothing for people that any any sizes. Why I do this? Because I know when Jesus was here, what he did for people to listen to him. It fit the people. It's a lot of people that don't have nothing to eat. And I go with groceries and I go. And people get to that's another that's another thing I have to tell you at God moment. Um one month is uh we're in February, right? February, yeah. In December, and November, no, in December, I was out there, and this person there is the news from uh in Chicago, he's the from the newspaper out there. He passed by and his dad. And you know what he did? He put that in the internet, and people came and started to donate food for people, and I had so much food to give away on the end of the day. I stayed like from night. I start at 11 o'clock, okay? 11 a.m. and I finished at four o'clock. I will it was cold out there, but people still coming and coming and coming and coming, getting the food out, and the food was gone. And let me that's when you say God's moments. You see when God does do something because he wants to be glorified in every way. It's not us, it's not about us doing, it's about us doing something for God's glory. That when we walk our walk, do it with simply thinking that God is gonna be glorified all the time, that his mercy, his grace, he justifies us, he's cleaned us, and he just gave us all the tools just to give his name away, to give his name everywhere that we go. I have to tell you something. The other day I was uh I went to do uh an error ride, and I was waiting in the in the in the little room, right? And it was this lady in the wheelchair, and I say, What do you have? And she's like, My my legs cannot move, and I'm like, Can I pray for you right now? Like, I pray for that lady. My my my soul is about that can people see Jesus? How Jesus will do, like he will have that compassion. God put us in this way that when we are complete, commit with him, and complete our soul is complete with him, his spirit guides us in everywhere, everywhere. Like we walk, but we I have the eyes of Christ, we have the ears of Christ, and we were just seeing people needs, we see people um problems, we see people what how we can help them, you know, in every way.

SPEAKER_01

I love that you bring that up about praying for that lady, you know, seeing a lady there in a wheelchair. And um, I talked about this on the episode with Sarah Vesley, is we as Christians have to get used to praying in public, praying for people, laying hands on people, like being the hands and feet of Christ. Yeah. And I think so many times we're so scared and we make praying about us and what am I gonna say? And you know, and it's just like I thank you for mentioning that because I think sometimes too in this world of we're scared of offending people, like scared of, oh, I'm gonna offend the lady, maybe, you know, she's in a wheelchair and saying something. And it's like, no, you know, like God does not, we should not be offended, we should not have the spirit of offense, we should not worry about that. And it's just like, okay, if God's calling us to do something, don't worry about any of that or somebody's reaction. And how do you or how have you gotten over? You know, you do your evangelizing, you go up to and you pray with people. Like, have you ever had a time in your life where that was hard, or how has it always just like come naturally to you?

SPEAKER_00

Okay, it's been naturally for me because I was Jehovah's Witness.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Since I was a little girl, and that was my life, you know, praying for people, uh go give Bible studies, and I was there until I had a motorcycle accident, a moped uh accident. I had um I had a gut moment. I had a gut moment. Um, I saw my doctor's, I saw with my own eyes, seeing the doctor sewing my forehead, my lips, and over here. Yeah, I'm like, what's going on? You know, what is going on here, you know, and and that was my spirit. I was going to the Lord. I was in the presence of the Lord. I recognize his voice. I recognize his voice, and that was uh something that guided me. Like when I was in the presence of the Lord, I say, I'm not ready to be here. I need to tell the people that you we have a spirit and we have a soul that belongs to him, you know. Our spirit, our soul belongs to the Lord, and that it is the people that are in that religion, because that's a cult, that's a religion, it's not a relationship with God. They don't believe in the spirit, and that's what smacked me, it wake me up. And I was only 15 years old, and that gave me if like the wake-up call, like when I asked him, I just want to have one son, one kid, that's it. I want to experience what to be a mother, you know. It was my first time living with my mom, and it was like it's my first time, and not being uh I had a very rough childhood, and it was my first time to be with my mom, and I was happy because I was like a free butterfly, you know, I had all the freedom, all the stuff, but that wasn't what I was looking for. When I had this encounter, I know that God is always mis uh He works mysteriously. When I came back, my my that stayed in my mind, you know. I thought I was dreaming, but what that wasn't a dream. I knew that happened, you know, and that was stuck in my brain, that was stuck in my mind for years, and when I started to read the Bible and to see what the Bible says and say, I started to change my whole life. I went back to live with my father, and I told my father that I will not live no more, like I would not go more to the church. I wrote uh a letter to the watchtower that I would not be part more of that. Uh I don't want to be part of that. And when my father got home, he threw me out of the streets, but I saw God. A lady from the same uh Jehovah's Witness, she took me to her home. I finished my cosmetology course, and that's why I'm a cosmetology because I finished, you know, I I did what I have to do, and I got my my certification, and I see God in everywhere, every way, every step of my life. It's been in every walk, in every step of my life. Even uh one day I baptized my mom. My mom said Jesus, and I asked my mom, are you baptized, mom? And she's like, no, and we did it, you know. And those little things, that's why I said that God is everywhere, you know. We don't have to have a license to baptize someone. If someone wants to get baptized, you just have to, if you accept Jesus as your savior and you know in your heart that he resurrected, and you know he's your Savior, just you know, you have the opportunity to baptize him and believe in him, you know, and you believe the Father, the Holy Spirit, that you know, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, they're all one God, you know. And the thing is, people are messed up, people put everything like so religious. No, you have to have a relationship with your God, a friendship. You are a son, you are a daughter or a son from a mighty God, a God that always listens to your prayers, they listen to you, but you have to be submissive, you have to be humble, you have to be in the right place because when you're not humble, things happen, you know, and the thing.

SPEAKER_01

The Bible tells us that you in trouble. I come up before the fall, yeah. Um you said something too, is you know, you have this encounter, you have this crash, and um you move away from being a Jehovah's Witness, but you talked about getting in the Bible and reading the Bible, and I think that is so important because if we don't know what the Bible says and we are not in the Word constantly, is you know, the devil's tricky, the devil knows scripture also, um, and can twist and turn around, you know. And so I just think that's interesting and I want people to hear that because it's not like you had this experience and you're like, okay, I'm on fire for God. It's like, no, you went into the word of God and you started to study the word of God. And then the other thing that I feel like recognize if is if I look at your life and if somebody is watching this or listening to it and they're struggling, is God has always provided for you. Um, you know, it's like you said your daughter or your father kicked you out and there was somebody that took you in. You were able to get your degree, you know, you had an accident and the Lord healed you when your husband had a heart attack and you had health issues. You know, the Lord had given you a gift years ago, but you were obedient in using that gift. I think that's the other thing, too. So many times is God has given us a gift and we're not obedient in using it in your obedience, you know, like middle, basically. The Lord said, I gave this to you and I'm gonna use it to provide for you when you need it. And then you talked about your social security. And so I just want to like I just saw that of going, like, I am a provider. And if you are struggling, you know, like have faith that God will provide for you. But then also I see you, God using you as a vessel to provide people, to feed people, to clothe people, to give them the gospel and to preach to them. So God uses us also as a provider. Um, so, anyways, I just wanted to put that out there. And as we wrap up, anything that we I didn't cover or didn't ask you that you would like to share?

SPEAKER_00

The thing is that he's always the provider because all the things that I give away is people that have been in touch with me. Like, hey, I've seen that you evangelized and then you're giving clothing. Can I give you clothes? And I say, if it's in good condition, just give it to me. I will give it away, you know. And I see God's hands in every way. Even in my house. Even in my house, I've never been going to my bed with no food because my freezer, everything is full of food all the time. Yeah, I don't depend on the government, I don't depend on nothing. Only in God's will, only God is our provider in every way. I see it in different ways, you know. Um I'm gonna tell you another story. In December 24, my neighbor, uh, he's 82 years old, his wife passed away, and it was December 24, she passed away. And we had, since I moved here five years ago, we have a beautiful relationship. He doesn't invite no one to his house, only me. I've only been in his house all the time. Like, uh, I cut his wife's hair and everything. And look how funny is God. I've been cooking for him, but he comes here and he provides us with the food he wants for the whole week. Okay. He only not only put the food for him, but he provides for the whole people for us too. And that's why I say it's God, you know. When the government denies you something for God put better things in in your way, you know. Just trust the Lord in every way. Put your finances in Him's hands. Do not do not have doubts about it. Put God first in everything that you do. In the middle of your marriage, put God first. If you put God in everything that you do, come with God in every movement that you do. Because when you do it, you will see your life is simple. Your life will be better, your life will be prosper, your life will be happier, because everything that you do, the joy of God, nobody can take it for you. The passion from the souls, you you believe Jesus everywhere. You know, we when you have that in you, everything changed. Even the way you speak is light. Everything that you do is for God. Because God, everything that we do is by Christ, you know. All everything, everything is Jesus for me, you know. Everything in my life, like it's the 45th that my husband used to criticize his mother. He was an evangelist and also a pastor. And I learned from her so much. Like I took care of her for five years. And uh, I will listen to stories, I will listen of everything, and I fell more in love with God, with Jesus, the way she will talk to me, you know. And now I became a carmen too. He's told me all the time. He's like, oh my God, just everywhere he's seeing me like praying for people, putting their hands, and he's like, There I go as my mom.

SPEAKER_01

I love that though, is she poured into you, you know, and God will use other people, but we have to be willing to be an open vessel, and we have to be willing to be taught and learn and then pour it. Don't don't keep that to ourselves, just pour it out to others. And I think that's a great uh place to end this, is um, you know, you are you are teaching people. And so hopefully uh it is my prayer that today people listen to this podcast and and hear you and hear God. Um and we pray that at the beginning is that at the end of the day, that people that listen and see this is they see what only God can do. Thank you so much, Jamina, for sharing your story.
